Statement of Faith
What We Believe and Teach
Mighty Men of Valor is a Christ-centered community of men committed to following Jesus Christ and helping one another become the men God has called us to be.
Our Statement of Faith is rooted in the historic Christian faith and the foundational truths Christians have confessed across centuries and traditions. We welcome brothers from Catholic and Protestant traditions who share these core beliefs, while recognizing that Christian traditions differ on some matters of doctrine and practice.
These differences do not need to divide us in our shared pursuit of Jesus Christ, obedience to God, spiritual growth, brotherhood, and lives of courageous faith.
1. God
We believe in one God, the Creator of heaven and earth, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, loving, just, merciful, and sovereign over all creation.
(Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-3; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
2. Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, suffered and died for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily from the dead on the third day.
He ascended into heaven and reigns at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.
(John 1:1-14; Luke 1:26-35; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 4:15)
3. The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who draws people to God, dwells within believers, transforms us into the likeness of Christ, equips us for service, and empowers us to live lives that honor God.
(John 14:16-17, 26; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9-14; Galatians 5:22-25)
4. The Scriptures
We believe the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and faithfully reveal His truth and His plan of salvation. Scripture is authoritative and essential for teaching, correction, spiritual formation, and living faithfully as followers of Jesus Christ.
(Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
5. Humanity And Sin
We believe every human being is created in the image and likeness of God and therefore possesses inherent dignity and worth.
Humanity has been separated from God through sin, and every person is in need of God's forgiveness, grace, and redemption. We cannot restore ourselves to God through our own efforts.
(Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)
6. Salvation
We believe salvation is God's gracious gift, made possible through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We are called to repent, believe in Jesus Christ, receive God's grace, and follow Christ as Lord. Salvation cannot be earned through human effort or merit. God's saving grace forgives, restores, and transforms us, calling us into new life in Christ.
(John 3:16-17; Romans 3:21-26; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:4-7)
7. The Church
We believe in one universal body of Christ made up of those who belong to Him. Followers of Jesus are called to worship God, grow in faith, live in fellowship with other believers, serve one another, and participate in the mission Christ has entrusted to His Church.
We value the local church and encourage every man in Mighty Men of Valor to be actively connected to and accountable within a faithful Christian church.
(Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 4:1-16; Hebrews 10:24-25)
8. Christian Life And Discipleship
We believe following Jesus Christ is a lifelong call to faith, obedience, holiness, love, humility, and service.
Through God's grace and the work of the Holy Spirit, we are called to turn away from sin, grow in Christlike character, love God and our neighbors, care for others, pursue justice and mercy, and use our lives and gifts for God's purposes.
Our faith should be evident not merely in what we profess, but in how we live.
(Matthew 22:37-40; John 14:15; Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:22-25; James 2:14-18)
9. Our Mission
We believe Jesus Christ calls His followers to make disciples, proclaim the good news, serve others, and bear witness to Him through both our words and our lives.
As men, we seek to faithfully live out this calling in our homes, churches, workplaces, communities, and relationships, encouraging and sharpening one another as we pursue Christ together.
(Matthew 5:14-16; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Proverbs 27:17)
10. Resurrection And Eternal Life
We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment. We believe in eternal life with God through Jesus Christ and look forward to the fulfillment of God's kingdom and the restoration of all things.
We therefore seek to persevere in faith, placing our hope and confidence in Jesus Christ and the promises of God.
(John 11:25-26; Romans 8:28-39; 1 Corinthians 15:20-26; Revelation 21:1-5)
United In Christ
Mighty Men of Valor brings together men from different Christian traditions around our common faith in Jesus Christ.
We recognize that Catholic and Protestant traditions hold different convictions regarding some matters of doctrine, worship, church authority, and practice. Mighty Men of Valor does not seek to resolve those differences or replace the role of the local church.
Instead, we choose to stand together on the foundational truths of the Christian faith, encourage one another in our walk with Christ, sharpen one another as men, and pursue lives that bring glory to God.
